Mangaluru, Oct 17: In a commendable effort to foster innovative teaching methods, Carmel School (CBSE) recently hosted a transformative capacity building programme on art integration, learning and assessment for its dedicated teaching staff recently. The event, held in the school’s auditorium, commenced with a spiritually uplifting prayer service, invoking divine blessings for a fruitful day. The teachers were then ushered into an engaging ice-breaking activity that encouraged camaraderie and audience introductions.

Praveena Shetty, principal of Raj Academy High School, Ganjimath, delivered an enlightening address, emphasizing the significance of art integration in classroom teaching. She underscored the role of fine arts in helping educators unearth their students' innate talents and subsequently introduced the importance of arts in conjunction with Bloom's Taxonomy. Suresh Mahalingapur, principal of Sri Ravishankar Guruji School, through numerous examples, illustrated how art integration nurtures critical thinking and cohesive learning across various subjects. He discussed rubrics and assessment parameters for art-integrated projects.

Throughout the workshop, participants showcased their creativity by producing visual arts, performing and crafting lesson plans that seamlessly wove the arts into diverse subjects, including musical compositions.

This interactive and participatory workshop offered valuable strategies to break the monotony of traditional classroom settings and elevate the quality of education through art integration. The teacher-participants left with valuable insights into demonstrative teaching and ground-breaking ways to engage their students, fostering a brighter future for all. The training session reached its conclusion with a heartwarming valedictory ceremony, where participants expressed their belief that this newfound knowledge would help uncover hidden capacities within their students.
