Puttur, Sep 20: The Hindi Department of St Philomena College, in association with the Hindi Sabha, celebrated ‘Hindi Divas’ on September 16. The event was presided over by the principal rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who delivered an inspiring message to the students, emphasizing the importance of embracing all languages and encouraged the students to be creatively constructive in the usage of Hindi language.
The chief guest, Ashma Dsouza, a research scholar from Mangalore University, delivered an enlightening speech shedding light on the beauty of the Hindi language and its significance in today’s multicultural world. She also discussed the various career opportunities that the Hindi language offers, showcasing its relevance in various professional fields.
To mark the event, competitions in diverse areas were conducted for the students of Hindi Language. The competition among the enthusiastic contenders was so intense that their language proficiency was in full display. Those who were a cut above the rest were awarded prizes. However, all the participants received a pat on the back for their enthusiastic participation.
Dr Dimple Fernandes, head of the Hindi Department, and student coordinators Melon Dsouza, IIIB.Com., were present on the occasion. Rufaida welcomed, and Nishran proposed vote of thanks. Shrutha and Melita compered the programme.
As the event concluded, the celebration continued with a series of captivating cultural performances, adding an artistic touch to the day’s festivities.
