Mumbai, Aug 16 (IANS): Indian equities markets Tuesday rose in early trade, opening after an extended weekend.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 17,015.99 points was ruling 17,030.47 points, up 190.84 points or 1.13 percent compared to its previous close at 17,130.51 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading 1.13 percent higher at 5,130.2 points.
Broader markets too were on an uptrend.
The market breadth at the BSE was positive with 642 stocks moving up, compared to 164 on the decline and 39 remaining unchanged.
