Puttur, Sep 15: St Philomena College Puttur marked International Democracy Day on September 15, in the college quadrangle. The principal of the college, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, spoke to the students about the importance of democratic values. He emphasized that the Indian Constitution ensures justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens and that the nation’s strength lies in its unity in diversity.
The highlight of the programme was the reading of the Preamble of the Constitution. Principal Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro led the reading, with students following along. The entire student body and faculty members actively participated in the proceeding. Campus director Fr Stany Pinto, vice principals Prof Ganesh Bhat and Dr AP Radha Krishna, as well as student council office bearers Vipin Gowda, Samriddhi Shenoy, and Raksha were present on the stage.
Dr K Chandrashekar, the student welfare officer, welcomed and compered the programme. Student welfare officer Rajeshwari M proposed a vote of thanks.
