Mangaluru, Sep 14: “Research is a must as per National Education Policy 2020. PhD is not an option for academicians anymore, but it is a compulsion,” Prof M S Moodithaya, vice-chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University) said. He was speaking as a chief guest in the three-day research workshop on “The Construction of Research Instruments in Social Sciences: Validation and Development.”
A three-day national level research workshop was inaugurated by the vice-chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University) Prof M S Moodithaya. He addressed the gathering with a blend of wisdom, experience, inspiration and valuable insights about the importance of research. He accentuated on developing more ethical and quality oriented research rather than focusing on increasing the number of research publications. He delved into how Indian Universities are responsible in fuelling the growth engine of the country by supplying the right talent for upliftment of the economy. Talent enrichment can happen when academicians are academically alive through extensive research and trying to push the horizon of knowledge with publications. He also congratulated Yenepoya University for providing the best learning experience to researchers as 8 more workshops are scheduled in the next three months. Prof Moodithaya’s address was a revelation for all the academicians, inspiring them to pursue excellence in research.
Prof Rashmi Kodikal, professor of Graphic Era University, Dehradun the guest of honour is a passionate researcher, who has dedicated her career in unravelling research in social sciences. She motivated the researchers to engage in robust research discussions and collaborate with other researchers to excel in research.
Dr B H Sripathi Rao, pro vice-chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) addressed gathering by recognising and truly valuing the Principal of The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM) Dr Arun Bhagwath’s incredible contributions in elevating the academic excellence of the college.
Dr Arun Bhagwath, the prinicpal and dean of Faculty of Science, The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM) brought to the fore the importance of creating an ecosystem for research in institutions. His address added a valuable academic perspective to the event.
An overview about the objectives and the effectiveness of the three-day national level research workshop was given by Dr Niyaz Panakaje, the co-ordinator of YEN-REFINED – Yenepoya Research Centre for Finance and Entrepreneurship Development. A warm welcome was extended to all the dignitaries and participants by Dr Shareena P, the vice-principal and dean, faculty of Commerce and Management, The Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM).
The event was a platform for meaningful research exploration, which motivated the participants to commit themselves to uphold the principles of ethical and high quality research to make a positive impact on the society.
