Beltangady: Man gets 6-month jail for sexually harassing girl student in bus

Beltangady, Aug 22: The court of the city sentenced a madrasa teacher accused of behaving indecently, sexually harassing and trying to outrage the modesty of a college girl student who was travelling by a KSRTC bus.

A case was filed against Mohammed Saifulla, native of Banna in Mudigere taluk and a madrasa teacher, accusing him of molesting and trying to outrage the modesty of a college girl who was travelling by KSRTC bus between Dharmastala and Puttur. The incident had taken pace in 2021.

Police filed charge sheet against the accused in the senior civil and JMFC court. Justice Devaraja sentenced accused to six months in prison and slapped him a fine of Rs 5000. Assistant public prosecutor Divyaraj Hegde argued for the prosecution.

    It is most important to control passions in life... Being a religious teacher he should have been a role model for good behavior... Unfortunately he succumbed to his pervert cravings.... We can only hope him to regret and repent his wrong actions against humanity and God... But 6 months seem too less for such realization to physically materialize....
