Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 1: The centre for social concern of St Aloysius Pre-University College organized a workshop titled ‘Walking with the Youth’ in Alangana. The primary objective of the workshop was to address various socio-economic issues prevalent in society, with a specific focus on the challenges faced by the youth. The resource person for the event was Prof Anuradha Shetty, an esteemed faculty member from the MSW department at Roshni Nilaya.

The workshop commenced with Prof Anuradha providing valuable insights into the socio-economic problems plaguing our society. To foster active participation, the students were divided into nine groups, each assigned a specific topic related to various demographics, such as farmers, environment, tribal communities, children, youth, teenagers, senior citizens, women, and the contradiction between urban and rural sectors.

Each group was given the creative freedom to present their assigned topic through skits or charts, allowing them to effectively convey their findings. The objective extended beyond merely highlighting the issues faced by these different segments of society; it also aimed to encourage participants to share their opinions and propose potential solutions.

After the presentations, Prof Anuradha further elaborated on the discussed issues, providing in-depth analysis and insight into the impact of consumerism on our society. This session deepened the students' understanding of the complexities surrounding these problems and encouraged critical thinking about the socio-economic challenges we face.

The workshop concluded leaving the participants with valuable knowledge and heightened awareness of the socio-economic problems faced by various segments of our society. It is hoped that this workshop will inspire the youth to take an active role in finding innovative solutions and making positive contributions to address these challenges in the future. The event was compered by Anvitha D Rao of II PU 11 batch and vote of thanks was proposed by Ruksania II PU 30 batch.
