Mangalore: Five Nepali Gurkhas Arrested for Theft

Mangalore, Jul 28: The Panamboor police here have arrested five Nepali Gurkhas who were involved in theft and have seized mobile phones worth Rs 1 lac, cash of Rs 1,900 from the accused.

The five arrested Nepalis are Sanju Bhandary(30), Raju Khadga(22), Deepak Bahaddhur Khadga alias Vishal(20), Yegraj Thapa(20) and Beerendra Khadga(22).


When the Panamboor police sub-inspector Keerthi Kumar and other officials were carrying out investigations, the five were walking near the Panamboor observatory. The moment they saw the police jeep they started running.  The police jeep caught them after chase and on inquiry found out that they were Nepali citizens and are working in Mangalore.

On further investigations and questioning by the police, the five of them revealed atht they had stolen mobile phones from a shop at Baikampady and also cash/ belongings from a Government School on June 25.

They had also carried out robbery at various states including Kerala, Goa and so on. They managed to escape from there and were working in a chinese fast food stall in city, said the police.

The police team headed by inspector Valentine D’Souza, PSI Keerthi Kumar, ASI Shiva Praksh, Krishna B K, Udaya Kumar, Damodar, Vinay Kumar, Palraj among others carried out the inquiry.

    Five Nepali people caught thieving, a story in a country where corruption thieving, scandals, favouritism, are every event even at the top of the country's utive body? To describe a theft why use word Gurkha or Nepali? 2 G Scandal, Kalmadi corruption, Rape by the security forces, bribery scandal, housing scandals, kick backs done by indians, does that warrant all indians being painted with the same brush?

    There is difference between Gurkhas and Nepali.you should know what a Gurkha is before write about them.

    If you are not sure about Gurkha and Nepali,please do not write both words.
    Gurkha mean highly respected word by all over the world which is earned by their hard work, sweat and blood, honesty,loyalty by joining in the British And Indian Army with receieving very high military training skilled people only called Gurkha. Nepali mean who born
    in Nepal Called Nepali ok bear in your mind those two words.

    Gurkha? Evry body should understand the defferent between Gurkha and Nepali.The Gurkha is a brave soldier not thieve, those who served or srving under the British Crown and Indian Goverment.Nepali is a people who born in nepal.

    Ok, they are Nepalis but they are not Gurkhas. The Gurkhas are trained soldiers in the British and Indian Armies who are much respected for their bravery, loyalty and professionalism around the world. Just because these thugs happen to be people of Nepali origin does not mean Gurkhas are like them. I would much appreciate if the reporters got their facts right before they print their news.

    MANY YEARS BEFORE THIS GORKHA COMMUNITY WAS VERY MUCH RESPECTED AS THEY WERE LOYAL TO THE CORE.
    HOWEVER, AFTER 80S THEY ALSO BECAME CORRUPT AND GREEDY. THIS IS THE RESULT OF THEIR GREEDINESS.
