Mangalore, Jul 28: The Panamboor police here have arrested five Nepali Gurkhas who were involved in theft and have seized mobile phones worth Rs 1 lac, cash of Rs 1,900 from the accused.
The five arrested Nepalis are Sanju Bhandary(30), Raju Khadga(22), Deepak Bahaddhur Khadga alias Vishal(20), Yegraj Thapa(20) and Beerendra Khadga(22).
When the Panamboor police sub-inspector Keerthi Kumar and other officials were carrying out investigations, the five were walking near the Panamboor observatory. The moment they saw the police jeep they started running. The police jeep caught them after chase and on inquiry found out that they were Nepali citizens and are working in Mangalore.
On further investigations and questioning by the police, the five of them revealed atht they had stolen mobile phones from a shop at Baikampady and also cash/ belongings from a Government School on June 25.
They had also carried out robbery at various states including Kerala, Goa and so on. They managed to escape from there and were working in a chinese fast food stall in city, said the police.
The police team headed by inspector Valentine D’Souza, PSI Keerthi Kumar, ASI Shiva Praksh, Krishna B K, Udaya Kumar, Damodar, Vinay Kumar, Palraj among others carried out the inquiry.
