Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School holds PTA annual general body meeting

Mangaluru, Jul 6: The PTA annual general meeting of St Agnes School CBSE was held on July 5. A good number of parents responded to the call and showed their presence for the event.

The programme was organised in two sessions. The morning session was conducted for parents of kindergarten to grade IV and the afternoon session was conducted for grade V to X.

Manoj Lewis who is currently serving as assistant professor at Govt First Grade College Kavoor and who has been a resource person to many institutions in training teachers on different topics ranging from GST, communication, National Education Policy etc. and a professional compere for corporate events was the chief guest of the event along with other esteemed dignitaries Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC the joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions, Dr Kumar Naik the PTA vice president, Sr Maria Sarika AC the school principal, Sr M Letitia the coordinator for St Agnes Preparatory School, Sr Lenita Lobo AC the vice principal and Sr Sweedal Fernandes AC. They were escorted to the venue by the band leader Daksha J.

The programme began with the opening chorus which mesmerised the audience with their melodious voices. To keep up the spirit a meaningful prayer dance and a spectacular welcome dance was presented by the students.

The virtual annual report was presented in a nutshell which highlighted the school’s aspiration of holistic learning to the students. The annual financial statement was also presented to the audience.

At the morning session Manoj gave a brief insight on NEP and its implementation to the beginning level of education. He gave the meaning of NEP and how the main focus is on the wholesome growth of a child was highlighted. The teachers have a different set of frameworks to students as per NEP was put forth. An educative talk on parenting and its challenges was also told to the parents and some key aspects on using technology and controlling it by Fasting method was highlighted in both the sessions. The parents should be time constraint, no workplace stress to be brought home was also stressed to the parents. On the whole a very informative talk by the guest was given to the parents.

The school principal Sr Maria Sarika too thanked the parents for their presence and their generous contribution in the child care. She also urged the parents to be a collaborative team and work hand in hand with the teachers. She also highlighted the need to make each child responsible in his or her work and actions. Various activities and the projects which will be undertaken this academic year was put forth to the parents.

The four toppers of Grade X of 2022-23, Manasa Prabhu who secured 96%, Rachana KT 95.4%, Melina Natasha Crasta 95.2% and Ellis Sumitha Aarons 95%, were honoured with a trophy, cash prize and their parents were honoured with a potted plant. Along with them the subject wise toppers and who secured 90% and the toppers in Catechism and value education of grade X and VII too were honoured. The subject wise toppers are as follows: English - Afra Fathima and Ania Neoma Fernandes 98%, Kannada- Vibha Bhatnagar and Rachana KT 97%, Hindi-Manasa Prabhu 96%, Maths- Rachana K.T 97%, Science- Manasa Prabhu 98%, Social Science – Afra Fathima and Parnika C.R 98%. The students who secured 90% and above are : Afra Fathima 94.6%, Eshani Shivraj 93.2%, Vibha Bhatnagar 93.2%, Sanjana Shenoy 92.4%, Dwani.S.Suvarna 92%, Reeshal Sandra Dmello 92%, Saanvi D Shetty 91.8%, Mahima Saldanha 91.6%,Mythili . K. Shetty 91.6%, Rachel Maria Pais 91.6%, Brynelle D’souza 91.2%, Ania Neoma Fernandes 90.8%, Dwithi P Shetty 90.8%, Saanvi Sudhir M 90.8%, Shea Winnona D’souza 90.8%. Catechism Toppers Grade X- Rachel Maria Pais 97%, Grade VII – Joyline Sequeira 90%, Value Education Toppers – Grade X Manasa Prabhu 97% Grade VII- Sanvi Sudhakar Shettigar 97%.

The programme was compered by Neesha Rego. Sr Lenita Lobo AC welcomed the gathering. Janet Antony introduced the speaker and the vote of thanks was proposed by Reena Montero and Supreetha.

The meeting was brought to a closure by serving refreshments and singing the school anthem.

The management congratulated the principal and staff for organising the event and extended its gratitude to the parents for their constant support and congratulated the academic toppers for their great achievement.
