Mangaluru, Jul 6: The SJEC Alumni Association organized the annual alumni meet, Reminiscia 2023, on July 1.

The event aimed to reconnect with proud alumni, staff, and students of the college. The highlight of the event was a panel discussion on the topic 'Navigating the Path Ahead: Strategies for Preparing for a Professional Career'. The discussion involved three distinguished alumni panelists and three third year BE students from SJEC. It aimed to provide valuable insights and guidance to the students on how to navigate the challenges they may face in their professional lives. The diverse range of panelists, consisting of both alumni and current students, ensured a comprehensive discussion covering different perspectives and experiences. The panel discussion was skillfully moderated by Sathyendra J Bhat, the placement officer at SJEC.

The annual alumni meet, Reminiscia 2023, provided an excellent platform for current students to gain insights from successful alumni and learn valuable strategies for preparing for their professional careers. The panel discussion facilitated a rich exchange of ideas and experiences. The event not only strengthened the bond between the alumni and the college but also inspired the students to strive for excellence and success in their chosen fields.

The annual general meeting was held on July 1 at the Kalam auditorium. The event was a grand success, with a large number (300) of alumni from various batches attending. The evening programme was hosted by Royston Pinto and Leeza Rodrigues. The event began with the annual general body meeting (AGM) where important matters were discussed. The president, Fr Wilfred Prakash D'Souza, delivered the welcome address, expressing his joy at seeing so many alumni gathered to celebrate their alma mater. He highlighted the achievements and progress made by the institution in the past year. Franco Menezes, secretary, SJEC Alumni Association (SJECAA), then provided a detailed briefing on the activities conducted throughout the year 2022. Slima Pinto, the treasurer, presented the financial status report for the year 2022. She shared information about the funds received and utilized for different projects and events, demonstrating the association's commitment to transparency.

Royston Pinto, conducted elections for the positions of office bearers and executive committee members for the term 2023-2025. The alumni actively participated in the election process, and new members were chosen to lead the association for the next two years.The event also featured a special segment dedicated to honoring distinguished alumni achievers. Nelson Castelino, Yathish Y, Chiara D'Souza, Mithashree, and Andrea Gonsalves were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in their respective fields.

To showcase the vibrant talent of the current students and alumni, a cultural programme was organized. The evening concluded with a delicious dinner, allowing alumni to reminisce, connect, and network with their fellow batch mates.The programme included mesmerizing dance and singing performances by both current students and alumni, which enthralled the audience and created a nostalgic atmosphere.

The post-dinner entertainment featured a DJ, adding to the celebratory ambiance. Roopesh, assistant professor, MBA and the convener of the event, offered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to everyone.
