Moodbidri, May 30: On Saturday, May 27 Corpus Christi Church in Moodbidri was filled with joy and celebration as 90 children received the sacrament of confirmation on this auspicious day. The esteemed Dr Peter Paul Saldhana, bishop of Mangalore diocese, graced the occasion and personally conferred the sacrament on each child. The event marked a significant milestone in the spiritual journey of these young individuals.
The bishop's arrival was met with great enthusiasm as the parishioners welcomed him with a vibrant ceremony featuring a children's band. Fr Onil D'Souza, vicar forane, greeted the bishop with a bouquet of flowers, symbolizing the community's warmth and reverence.
Before bestowing the sacrament of confirmation, Bishop Dr Saldhana engaged the children in an insightful conversation about the holy spirit. He posed thought-provoking questions, encouraging the children to deepen their understanding of their faith.
This occasion also marked a pastoral visit for Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldhana to Corpus Christi Church. During his visit, he addressed the parishioners, delivering a heartfelt message on the significance of synodality in the church. In his speech he said, "Synodality is journeying together as the people of God.It indicates a way of listening to each individual person as the member of the church to understand how God might be speaking to all of us."
The bishop's presence added a spiritual fervor to the holy mass, which he himself celebrated with great reverence.
Furthermore, Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldhana took the opportunity to meet and engage with various associations within the church. He dedicated time to converse with them, discussing their initiatives, and providing guidance and support where necessary. His presence and guidance were deeply appreciated by the members of the associations.
