Udupi: Frustrated at Failure, Student Ends Life

Udupi, Jul 11: A second PU student committed suicide at her home in Padebettu within Padubidri police station limits in the district on Saturday July 9. She has been identified as Akshata Moolya (17), daughter of Sundar Moolya.

Akshata, a first year pre university class student of Admar PU College near Padubidri, had failed in the annual examination held last year. She again failed in the re-examination, it is learnt.

Fed up at the repeated failures, the student committed suicide by consuming pesticide, it is gathered. A report was registered in Padubidri police station in this connection.

    What a sad news and tragedy! For Christ`s sake, please someone tell the students that the failures in the exams is not end of the world. They can always pursue other things in life in which they are good at. After all, one should understand and realise that passing the PUC is one of the hardest thing - I remember way back when I was doing my PUC, the studies switched over from Kannada medium everything to english, and so I was struggling to answer all those exam papers, and the percentage of passing was always very low. I wonder though whether the same system still prevails.
