Mangaluru, May 7: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not speaking about price rise of essential commodities and unemployment but he is speaking on terrorism and religious sentiments," said AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Addressing a massive rally in Mulki on Sunday, May 7, she said, “People in the state are not afraid of terrorism but they are afraid of price rise of essential commodities, unemployment and the 40% commission of the BJP government. People are afraid of this looting government.”
She also called upon party workers to work to uphold truth and work sincerely and also create awareness among the people about why they should vote for the Congress. “All religions have taught truth. This will help to build the nation,” she said.
Taking a dig at the BJP, Priyanka said BJP leaders are not speaking about other issues faced by the common man but they are speaking on communal polarisation and caste.
She added that the airport and Mangalore Port are the contributions of Congress leaders Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. But unfortunately, it has been handed over to two people. “People in the state are fearing for BJP's corruption. BJP instead of raising issues of development is speaking about the religious sentiments of people,” she said.
“This election should change the future of the comman man. People should vote for Congress for their future and development,” Priyanka said.
She alleged that the BJP government failed to generate employment, instead, people had lost their jobs. “If the Congress government comes to power we will not allow Nandini to merge with Amul. Congress will fulfill the promises that have been made to the people. We will fill all vacant posts in the government and will also include Tulu language in the 8th schedule of the Indian constitution. We will make Mangaluru a golden diamond Park in tourism and in business,” she said.
“BJP is busy looting taxpayers money but they are not bothered about the common man's problem. People should understand why they need to vote for Congress. It is to make your future bright,” she said.
Congress candidates Mithun Rai, Inayath Ali were present.
Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary, DCC president and MLC Harish Kumar, MLC Manjunath Bhandary, former MLAs Abaychandra Jain, Shakunthala Shetty and others were present.
