Mangalore, Jul 9: The Canara Organisation for Development and Peace (CODP) organized a programme at St Ligoury Higher Primary School, Nirmarga here on Friday July 8 to promote planting of trees and shrubs to restore and protect the environment.
Director of CODP Fr Onil D’Souza addressing the students, spoke about the various benefits that human beings derive from trees and shrubs.
Headmistress Benedicta also stressed on the importance of planting trees in order to protect the environment.
Around 700 medicinal plant saplings were distributed to all children present.
Panchayat member Mohammad Rafeeq, Jalanayana Committee president Wilfred Rego, and co-ordinator of CODP Jeevan were others present.
