Mangalore, Jul 8: Corporation bank managing director Narendra Singh said that women empowerment can be realized only when they are economically independent.

He spoke after inaugurating the seminar titled ‘women empowerment’ jointly organized by KCCI and Corporation Bank.

Corporation bank has initiated many schemes to aid women entrepreneurs. There are plenty of opportunities in small and medium scale industry and even the government has announced many schemes, he said and called upon the women to make use of such schemes.

Dr Madhura M Chathrapathi, trustee of Asian Centre for entrepreneurial initiative said that there are good opportunities in construction sector, service sector, IT based industries and e-commerce among others.

Entrepreneurial acumen among individuals will give success in any industry. Business knowledge, competitive approach, planning ability and its execution, customer relation skills is very much requisite of any good entrepreneurs, she added.

B R Bhat, general manager, corporation bank said that arrangements have been made to collect proper information about the nature of business being planned by women who are participating in the seminar. After a meeting as a second phase, loan facilities will be provided to needy, he said.

Sadhana Kini was the chief guest. KCCI president G G Mohandas Prabhu welcomed. Vice-president Latha R Kini and secretary Mohammed Amin introduced the guests.
