Mangaluru, Apr 14: A three-day summer camp was organised for the guides of St Agnes CBSE School. Around 80 students along with their guide captains participated in the camp on April 1- 3. The guides were divided into seven teams of Rose, Lilly, Tulip, Lotus, Jasmine, Sunflower, and Lavender.
The camp was inaugurated by Sr Maria Gracilda AC the school principal. The inaugural was followed by prayer service, flag hoisting ceremony with guides anthem and claps.
The first part of the day was a session to the guides by Felcy Fernandes on various activities to be done as guides, the step-by-step learning on important rules and pattern to be followed by every guide, tying different knots, action song, flag hoisting etc were skills taught. Post-lunch, the guides participated in various outdoor games and as the day one came to closure the students refreshed themselves with preparation for further activities. During the night, activities of collage making was given to teams on Swatch Bharat, cooking without fire, memory games were conducted meticulously.
On the second day, the guides were taken to hiking at Mundana in Bejai. Some activities such as Patriotic singing, different claps and instant advertisement were some competitions held. The next day the guides were taken to Ullal beach as part of beach cleaning initiative.
The campfire was a grand event with guests being the school principal Sr Maria Gracilda AC, the administrator Sr Edna Furtado AC, vice principal Sr Lenita Lobo AC and some invited sisters of the St Agnes convent and teachers.
The campfire was inaugurated by the principal with guide student captain expressed their vows from each direction and lit the fire. A small entertainment programme was put up by the girl guides such as motivational skit, dance, advertisement, songs, mime show etc. The school principal shared her thoughts on service and importance of girl guide and the motto of being a fair candidate and giving the best to society. The camp was followed by dinner and rest. Prizes were distributed to the teams who secured highest points in all activities. It was an informative and relaxing camp for the guides. The event was a success with the planning and preparation of teachers Devika, Babitha, Madhura, Chandrika, Deekshitha Manisha, and Sumitra.
The management congratulated the guides for their active participation and learning and the guide captains for their timely training given to the guides and preparing them for future.
