Mangaluru: St Agnes College (Autonomous) organizes 'Hand-on workshop on Internet of Things' workshop

Mangaluru, Mar 6: With the desire to enhance knowledge and to provide for Industry readiness, the Department of Big Data Analytics, Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research, St Agnes College (Autonomous), organized a one day “Hand-on workshop on Internet of Things” on March 4.

The resource person for the workshop was Supriya Salian, assistant professor, department of computer science and engineering, St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor. Students of 1st year and 2nd year M.Sc. Big Data Analytics actively participated in the workshop.

The Hands-on workshop included a number of experiments carried out using the Arduino Uno Microcontroller board. Participants learned the various applications of IoT using temperature sensor, Ultrasonic sensor, and other IoT based devices. The resource person highlighted the significance of the 3A concept of “anytime, anywhere, any media” associated with IoT. Supriya also explained about the current applications of IoT in everyday activities and also its future avenues.

The session was very interactive with students trying out a diverse set of applications in IoT. The session concluded by the resource person with opportunities for research in the field of IoT.
