Puttur, Jun 14: Relating to the missing of a vanity bag containing gold ornaments from a parked car in the town a few days ago, the policemen have taken into custody two former high school students. The vanity bag belonged to a medical practitioner from the town.
Dr Pradip of Kottakkal Ayurveda Pharmacy which functions on main road here, and his wife, had parked their car near Darbe Kaverikatte here a few weeks back. On coming back, they found that the vanity back containing jewellery, cash and mobile phone, valued at about Rs 60,000, had gone missing from the car. A complaint was thereafter filed with the town police station here.
Station house officer of the police station, Srikant, led a team of policemen in the investigation, and zeroed in on Thomas from Napoklu in Madikeri taluk, and Avinash, both whom had studied in a private college here, but failed in the SSLC examination. They two had allegedly committed the theft during the period they were in town to appear for their examinations.
The policemen have recovered the valuables stolen by the students. The boys were presented at the court of juvenile delinquency in Mangalore. They were sent to remand home as per the court’s instructions.
