Mangaluru, Feb 19: Green initiative programme was organized by the department of commerce, centre for post graduate studies and research, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru on February 17. A total of 42 students from MCom were present for the programme.
Environmental conservation has become one of the core issues that needs to be addressed and sustainable environment is the need of the hour that can save mother earth. The main aim behind organizing this programme was to demonstrate our commitment to the environment and to take steps towards building a sustainable future.
Merin was the host of the event. The programme started with a prayer song led by Rolvi and team followed by welcome speech and introduction of the speaker delivered by Melisha and the vote of thanks was given by Niha.
The speaker for the day was Steevan Robert Tellis assistant professor of department of MBA Srinivas Institute of Technology. He gave us insights on terrace gardening, roof gardening, outdoor gardening, herbal gardening, formal and informal gardening, types of soil and depth of the soil as per plants. He also spoke about the different varieties of plants, the suitable months in which we can plant those plants, the nourishment and care needed for its growth. He educated us on manure and how it is to be made.
The session was informative and very much helpful for all the students. To conclude as a step towards purifying the air and make the earth green each student planted at least one plant in their house.
