Mangaluru, Feb 15: Srinivas University, Mangaluru in association with central government, Aayush Mantralaya Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga organising a large-scale public mass yoga practice known as Amrita Yogotsava 75 took place on February 15 at Srinivas University's Mukka campus as a warm-up to the first international Sanskrit conference, which will be hosted in Srinivas University Mukka campus.
Mysuru Sri Vedavyasa Yoga Pratisthan secretary and New Delhi Central Ayush Mantralaya Yoga Certificate Board Central Committee member, a world-renowned yoga master Dr K Raghavendra R Pai was guiding the Amrita Yogotsava.
In the presidential remark chancellor, Srinivas University, president A Shama Rao Foundation, Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao said, “I had a different concept about yoga, now our yoga guru Dr K Raghavendra R. Pai has shown how unique we can practice yoga. To make our students very efficient in concentration study, yoga exercise is very essential. There are no restrictions on practicing yoga. In the coming years in some of the courses we inculcate yoga as a special subject with the degree course.”
Addressing the gathering, pro chancellor, Srinivas University, Dr A Srinivas Rao said, “After the Amrita Yogotsava, if everyone starts to practice yoga at least for half an hour per day it will be the success of this wonderful programme. This kind of event can be organised on a regular basis and all can participate in a large number.”
Trustee member A Vijayalaxmi R Rao, prof Er A Mithra S Rao, vice chancellor Dr PS Aithal, convenor of the programme Gopal Acharya, registrar Dr Anil Kumar, Yoga Guru Musthafa, corporator Shwetha Poojary, director of Yoga Kuteera Dr Radhakrishna Shetty, and others were present.
Along with the chief guest Dr K Raghavendra R Pai, localities and students and faculties of Srinivas University practiced yoga. Registrar Dr Ajay Kumar welcomed the gathering, registrar Dr Srinivas Mayya D proposed the vote of thanks, and prof Shrinath Rao K compered the event.
Participants of Amrita Yogotsava were awarded certificates by Srinivas University.
