Udupi: CII-IGBC's student chapter inaugurated at Manipal School of Architecture and Planning

Udupi, Feb 9: A Student Chapter of CII-Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) was inaugurated early this week at Manipal School of Architecture and Planning (MSAP), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal.

D B Mehta (chairman of CII-IGBC Mangalore chapter), Ar Venkatesh Pai (co-chairman, CII-IGBC Mangaluru Chapter), and Rekha Mavulati (senior counsellor, CII-IGBC, Hyderabad) were the chief guest of the event.

Prof Dr N Ramadevi (director, MSAP) welcomed the gathering and emphasized on the need of sustainable buildings in the current era of climate change, along with the importance of this collaboration between IGBC and MSAP for societal benefits.

Prof Dr Pradeep Kini (joint director, MSAP) emphasized on the impact of built environment on global warming, and the commitment of MSAP towards climate change mitigation by providing quality education in sustainable, energy-efficient, and Green building design through their Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) and Masters of Design - Sustainable Design (MDes SD) degree programmes.

Ar Vaibhav Jain (CII-IGBC coordinator at MSAP) gave an overview of MSAP. MSAP is dedicated in developing the core design and professional competencies in their students by exposing them to experiential learning, community engagement, and providing them an international platform for inter-disciplinary learning and collaborative research.

Ar Pranav Kishore introduced the activities of the Center of Sustaniable Built Environment, MSAP related to research and publications.

Chairman of IGBC Mangaluru Chapter D B Mehta emphasized the need to design energy efficient buildings, and also to focus on lifestyle improvement. He extended his full support on future endeavours of IGBC student chapter at MSAP.

Co-chairman of IGBC Mangaluru Chapter, Ar Venkatesh Pai elaborated on area of collaboration between the Student Chapter and IGBC head quarter in Hyderabad, and IGBC Mangalore Chapter.

Ar RekhaMavulati, senior counsellor, CII-IGBC, Hyderabad highlighted the vision of CII-IGBC, and its contributionsof more than two decades towards the Green building movement in India.

Further the members of CII-IGBC student chapter at MSAP, Naveen Kumar P, and Bhuvana (students of MDes Sustainable Design) proposed the future roadmap of the student chapter.

The event was concluded by felicitation of the guests from CII-IGBC.
