Mangaluru, Feb 4: Lourdes Central School, a school of reputation is not built in a day. It has taken years of dedication and single minded commitment of its founder and his team, to create the distinctive aura and reputation that we all enjoy today and are so proud of. To remember and honour the contributions of the founder, the late Fr Bernard L D'Souza, the Founders Day was celebrated on February 4.
The programme commenced with a prayer service which included the universal prayer, prayer song and intentions. Raphael Aaron Dias of class1 welcomed the gathering. Harikrishna Menon of class 11 inspired everyone by an appropriate thought for the day. Parth Shetty of class 6 briefed about the significance of the day.
As a tribute to the founder, a member of the teaching staff Sharmila Colaco shared her experience and highlighted the qualities of the founder as an individual and the ambitions he had as an educationalist to take his brain-child, Lourdes Central School to greater heights.
Principal of the school Fr Robert D'Souza, vice-principal Belita Mascarenhas, guests of the programme Fr Jaison Pais and Fr Arul Joseph offered a floral tribute in memory of the founder.
Vice principal Belita Mascarenhas addressed the gathering and reminded the students and staff of the humble beginning and the long distance the school has traversed. She urged the students to work with commitment in attempting and clearing various competitive examinations in order to serve the nation thereby fulfilling the dreams of founder.
Manasvini of class 6 delivered the vote of thanks.
The programme was compered by Dhanvi Shetty and Adarsh A K of class 9. 'Lourdes Olympiad', a tradition started by the founder to build on the confidence of students help them increase their knowledge and motivate them to answer competitive examinations was conducted after the programme.
