Udupi, Dec 26: National Mathematics Day 2022 was uniquely celebrated on December 22, at St Mary’s Auditorium. Various competitions like chart making, model making, wheels of addition and subtraction etc were conducted on December 15 for students of grade 1 to 8.
The formal programme commenced with a talk about the importance of the day by Adithya Viraj Shetty of Grade 8.
A group of students of grade 6 performed an activity on Abacus under the guidance of Reshma Shetty. The senior most maths teacher and the academic coordinator of grade 7 and 8, Sunitha Rao was the chief guest of this special occasion. She emphasized the importance of mathematics in our daily life with examples. Students of grade 3 to 5, performed an action song on the importance of Maths.
Principal Fr Johnson Sequeira in his presidential speech highlighted the importance of maths as 'Life itself is Maths'. He also appreciated the active participation of students in Math Week activities. The winners of various competitions were felicitated on this occasion. The charts and models prepared by students were exhibited.
Swathi Acharya announced the prize list and Shruthi DSouza anchored the programme.
