Udupi, Dec 21: The Manipal College of Health Profession (MCHP) is the one of the prominent institutes under the umbrella of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education an 'Institute of Eminence' by Ministry of Education, Government of India. The MCHP is the first and largest institute in India exclusively dedicated to cater the need of education in allied health field having students from more than 20 countries and offering over 70 programmes including under graduate, post graduate and PhD programme.
The 23rd Annual and Awards Day of the institution is celebrated on December 16 and Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh vice chancellor, MAHE as chief guest. He highlighted the Emerging Career Pathways & Scope of Allied Healthcare Professions in India and Abroad and felicitated the gold medal awardees.
Dr Anil Bhat, associate dean, Kasturba Medical College Manipal mentioned that, the institute trains high calibre allied health professionals with a view to prevent, diagnose and treat a range of conditions and illnesses working within a multidisciplinary health team and to provide the best patient outcomes.
Dr G Arun Maiya Dean, Manipal College of Health Professions deliver the welcome address and presented annual report of the institution and highlighted that, the courses offered at MCHP are specifically designed to prepare under graduates and Post graduate students for rewarding careers in the globally growing healthcare industry.
Two of the reputed alumni of the institution Dr Chitra LK Balasubramanian, associate professor at the DPT programme and director of Hicks Hall Research at the Brooks College of Health, USA and Dr Jini K Gopinath, reputed Clinical psychologist, Mind Matters Clinic & Training Centre, Bengaluru, and Online Counselling & Emotional Wellness Co Pvt Ltd, Bangalore were felicitated with distinguished alumni award.
Dr Venkataraj Aithal, Dr B Reshmi, associate dean, MCHP and Dr Shovan Saha Chair Alumni Relation were present during the celebration. Dr Usha Devdas delivered vote of thanks.
