Mangalore: Assistant Commissioner from Bangalore Commits Suicide in Lodge

Mangalore, May 24: S V Rananath Rao (59), working as assistant commissioner in the department of commercial taxes and a native of Bangalore, ended his life in a hotel here by hanging himself.

Ranganath had hired a room in the said hotel on May 16. On May 23, the employees of the hotel senses nauseating odour emanating from his room. On peeping into the room through the ventilator, they found the body of the room occupant hanging from the fan.

On a complaint made by the hotel management, Bunder police have registered a case and begun investigation. It is said that in a suicide note left behind, Ranganath has expressed his helplessness at not being able to fund further studies of his son, and that he was ending his life out of this frustration.

    I am sure, he must be indeed a loyal employee of the police force. Had he been corrupt and received kickbacks, he would not have had cruch for funds. But, ending life is not a solution, I guess. Anyway, I admire his honesty and dedication and wish his children get educated very well out of his hard earned money. May his soul rest in peace.
