Mangaluru, Dec 5: Team No'ktiram won coastal Karnataka's prestigious carol singing competition ‘Gloria-2022’ held on Sunday, December 4 at Don Bosco Hall here. The competition was jointly organised by Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS), Mangaluru and Daijiworld 24*7 TV.
In a neck-to-neck competition, Team Drasper Studio and Team Staccato won the first runner-up and second runner-up awards respectively. Team Nebula from Agrar won the ‘disciplined team’ award.
Ronald Nazareth, Byndoor, HR director Daijiworld TV, Santhosh Sequeira, proprietor, Santhosh Arrangers, Kankanady, and Praveen Tauro, marketing manager, Daijiworld TV inaugurated the programme by raising the curtain of the decorated stage.
Fr Rocky D Cunha, OFM Cap, president, KNS , Alexis Castelino, director, Daijiworld TV, Gerry Concesso, treasurer, KNS, and Stany Bela, production director, Daijiworld Media were present for the valedictory event.
Congratulating the contestants, Fr Rocky D Cunha said, "All the teams created a heavenly atmosphere in the venue here. They say, if we sing hymns, it is equal to praying two times. But according to me if we sing a carol, it is equal to praying four times. Today, teams from all corners of coastal Karnataka participated in this competition which is a sign of oneness in the name of Christmas. I congratulate all team members and people who made this competition possible.”
Thanking to contestants, Stany Bela said, "This is the third year where Daijiworld TV is conducting the carol singing competition. But this year, Konkani Natak Sabha also took responsibility to make this event memorable. The participation and performances of teams made the competition successful. We are planning to accommodate more teams in the coming years."
Music maestro Antony Martis and singer Jyostna Fernandes were the judges for the competition. Members of KNS performed traditional ‘Christmas Khel' before announcing the winners.
Liston D’Souza, vice president, KNS, Cletus Lobo and Jossy Theadore handled the registration, decoration and co-ordination departments.
Floyd D'Mello Cascia compered the event.
