Mangaluru, Dec 3: Reshieal Roshni Monteiro (16), daughter of Roshan & Lilly Monteiro from Mulihithlu, Mangaluru has won three gold medals and two silver medals for India in the sub-junior category at the Commonwealth Powerlifting & Bench Press Championship being held in Auckland, New Zealand. She also won the ‘best lifter of the championship’ trophy.
Continuously, she has been winning the Karnataka trophy for three years as the best lifter. She is currently pursuing her first PU at St Aloysius College.
Reshieal began her journey in powerlifting when she was in her class 8 in 2019.
She has won the bronze medal at State Powerlifting Championship, Kudroli, Mangaluru, silver medal at the State Powerlifting Championship, Saligrama, gold medal at the National Powerlifting Championship, Uttar Pradesh, bronze medal at the State Benchpress Competition, junior, Davanagere and a gold medal as a sub-junior at the State Benchpress Competition, Davanagere.
As many as 42 different nations are participating in the ongoing men’s and women’s Commonwealth Powerlifting & Benchpress Championships and the Special Olympics Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships from November 27 to December 4 at Auckland.
