Moodbidri: 42-year-old toddy tapper falls to death from palm tree

Moodbidri, Nov 5: A toddy tapper fell to death from the top of palm tree while collecting toddy at Varnabettu under Paladka gram panchayat limits on Friday, November 4.

Suresh Poojary (42), a resident of Panjiguri, Varnabettu is the man, who died in this tragedy.

Suresh had climbed the palm tree behind his house in the afternoon in order to collect toddy. As he did not return for a long time, the family members went in search of him. He was found dead near the palm tree, apparently fallen from the top.

Suresh is survived by wife and two young children. Moodbidri police have visited the spot and registered a case.

    Feel very sad. That is a very hard job. My friend Annu Anna did this job in my childhood days in 70s. Safety measures must be used while clibing the tree. May his soul rest in peace.

    Rain should also be the reason.Must be slippery and fell down that should be also the reason.Also he was the bread winner with two tiny children.O God show your mercy.
