Udupi, Oct 27: Annual sports meet of Christ School Manipal was marked on October 21. Dr Deepak Ram Bairy, deputy director of Physical Education, KMC, MAHE, Manipal was the chief guest for the inauguration programme. Fr Romeo Lewis, Correspondent Eliza Vaz, principal and others were also present.
The chief guest received the guard of honor, the house – wise march past was also held. Students march with measured footsteps and the swinging of the arms. The little ones of class 2 and 4 holding the tri colour flag reminiscing the pride brought by our nation’s champions in Olympics. The inaugural program of the ceremony started with a prayer led by the school choir. The chief guest along with the Correspondent and the Principal hoisted the school flag. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial sports torch by the chief guest and oath.
Dr. Deepak Ram Bairy, deputy director of Physical Education, KMC, MAHE stressed the importance of participation in sports and the values that are inculcated in a student. Fr. Romeo Lewis, correspondent in his message, wished the students to do their best in the events organized for them. The colorful display by the students added to the beauty of the ceremony
Shiny Priyanka compered the program. Eliza Vaz, principal, welcomed the gathering. Vidhya Sudhir proposed the vote of thanks.
The students participated in various sports events and there were various games organized for the parents too.
The valedictory programme started in the afternoon with a prayer song. Anand Selvam, manager Union Bank was the chief guest for the valedictory programmeThe students of class 9 and 10 did their welcome dance. The sports flame was put off in the presence of the chief guest and the Principal and the school flag was lowered and handed over to the Principal by the Sports Captain Rajath Balakrishna Devadiga. The chief guest awarded the prizes to the winners.
