Udupi, Oct 18: Training programme for student volunteers of Nasha Mukth Baharat Abhiyan was held in Milagres College Udupi on Tuesday, October 18.
Adarsh Tripathi, senior state coordinator, resource person of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, ministry of social justice and empowerment, central government, New Delhi and Kurma Rao M, district commissioner Udupi were the chief guest for the programme.
Addressing the student volunteers Kurma Rao M, DC said, "In Udupi district many illegal activities have been found. District administration is working to curb such activities. Especially in places like college and many public places are being thorougly tracked. Drugs have been carried and sold even by the food delivery chains. In this situation, giving awareness to youths and students is important. What is more important is to know how to get information about the drug addicts. Specifying to the student community because in a college environment we engage with a lot of people and students being vulnerable tend to fall for it. To get success for Nasha Mukt Bharath Abhiyan, we’ll need coordination and all kinds of stake holder’s involvement.” He appreciated the college and administration for conducting such an awareness program.

This survey's intention was to track the substance usage in India. There are three ministries working on to stop drug usage in India. Our ministry works under drug demand reduction. On 15 august, 2020 Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched across the nation with 272 districts. This year 100 more districts have been added.
