Mangaluru, Oct 3: Milagres PU College inaugurated its Junior Red Cross Unit and Anti Drug Club for the academic year 2022-23 on September 30. Around 120 students gathered in the PU College auditorium.
Sr Aileen Mathias, vice principal, Athena College of Nursing was the chief guest and she inaugurated the Junior Red Cross Unit and Anti Drug Club by lighting the lamp. In the inaugural address she gave an insight about the origin of Red Cross, the fundamental principles and various activities to be conducted by Junior Red Cross Unit and Anti Drug Club.She said the youth of today are the driving force of tomorrow and they should be aware of objectives of the red cross unit: first aid, organ donation and be away from drugs.
She also demonstrated how to give the first aid treatment and CPR during the emergency care and treatment of an injured or a ill person before complete medical and surgical treatment.
Fr Michael Santhumyor, principal, Milagres Degree College, presided over the inaugural programme.In his presidential address he said, all the students to should take active part in co-curricular activities of the college and motivated them to say ‘no to drugs’. Principal, Milagres PU College, Melwin Vas administered the Junior Red Cross Oath. NSS programme officer Kiran D'Souza, Lecturer in English, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest.
The programme was compered by Ayisha Muzaina and president of student council Pavan P Shetty proposed a vote of thanks.
