Mangaluru, Sep 19: the department of BBA and B Voc of St Aloysius College in collaboration with Save soil team Mangaluru organized a Save soil awareness programme on Thursday, September 15.
Cyclist Sahil Jha was the resource person for the event.
Cyclist Sahil Jha travelled for more than 2500 kilometer starting from Kolkata to create awareness on save soil and stop hunger crisis.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahil Jha said, "Over three lac farmers have committed suicide due to low fertility of soil and low income. Soil will turn into desert because of usage of pesticidies, digging, fertilizers where we will witness 40 percent decline in food products.
"When half of the population strives for food, civil wars will unfold. I urge the government to introduce policy to give certain incentives to farmers. People need to be aware about the importance and need in saving the soil. If the people raise their voices, the government will definitely introduce a soil conservativepolicy," said Sahil Jha.
Dean BBA Arathi Shanbag, HOD BBA Claret Pereira, dean B Voc Chethan Shettigar and others were present.
Assistant professor BBA Ayush Kottari compered the event.
