Mumbai, Apr 17: Celebrations and festivities marked the holy occasion of Palm Sunday in churches all across the metro on Sunday April 17.

Palm Sunday is the sixth and last Sunday of Lent and the beginning of the holy week.  In this context, celebrations marked the atmosphere here and in several other parishes across the metro.

Fr Baptist Pais, parish priest of Sacred Heart parish, Mahakali, Andheri (East), celebrated the Holy Eucharistic Mass along with assistant parish priest Fr Raja Reddy, Fr Naveen Rebello, Fr Richard D’Almeida, and other priests here on Sunday morning.

Holy prayers to emphasize the celebratory atmosphere regarding Jesus Christ riding into Jerusalem as per ancient scriptures began in the churches across the metro since early morning on Sunday, whereby the palm was blessed by the priests.

After this, the holy palm was brought to the churches in colourful procession, after completing its journey through different parts of the city.  The parishioners followed the musical bands carrying the palms with deep devotion and prayers.  Holy Mass was offered by the respective parish priests of the parishes.
