Chandigarh, April 14 (IANS) The Chandigarh estate office has issued a show-cause notice to the owners of Kings XI Punjab team for running their office from a residential area here, officials said Thursday.

A search was conducted at house number 189 in Sector 19 here -- the office premises of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited -- late Tuesday, according to the officials of the estate office.

KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited is owned by a consortium which includes Bollywood actress Preity Zinta and industrialists Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, and Karan Paul.

The owners had taken five rooms of the house on rent, on the ground and first floors, to make their guest house.

"Many computers were installed in these rooms. There was a proper reception, waiting room and conference hall. They were using the premises as an office, which is in violation with the local bylaws," said an official of the estate office.

He added: "The total area under misuse is 1,306.86 square feet. We have issued a notice and sought their reply within 15 days. Our investigation is on and heavy fine could be imposed on the violators."

Residents of this area, who were irked with the haphazard parking of dozens of cars outside the house and due to late night movements, had filed a complaint with the estate office.

However, the owner of the house claimed that he had given the premises on rent to Kings XI Punjab to use it as their official guest house.

Arvinder Singh, chief operating officer of Kings XI Punjab, said: "No commercial activity is going on from this house. We are using it as a guest house."

Last year also KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited had landed in trouble when a local court here issued notice to the company owners for not maintaining the balance sheet of their firm.
