Udupi, Aug 20: GM Vidyaniketan Public School and GM Global School jointly celebrated the Amrita Mahotsav of the 75th Independence Day at the GM campus, Brahmavar Harady on August 15 with patriotic fervor and renditions of national songs.
Shivaprakash S, who is serving as Border Security Force of India, was the chief guest at the event. He hoisted the flag and received guard of honour from the cadets.
He said, "Since I was serving in BSF, I was not able to participate in many family functions. But today, I am fortunate to have participated in the Amrit Mahotsava programme. Students should not forget patriotism, when they go to foreign country for the best post. A large number of youths from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi district should join the army."
Principal of the school Brahmachari K N explained the importance of the day. "Love for the country and patriotic feeling should be there in blood, mind and soul," he said.
Pranav Shetty, the principal of the school, said, "We all are happy today because of the sacrifice of freedom fighters. We should remember them. Today, we have the responsibility to build a prosperous country."
The teams of school Medha, Vidya Prajna and Shriddha, Scouts and Guides cadets of global team participated in March past, renditions of patriotic songs, dance, skits created a sense of patriotism among people.
Prakashchandra Shetty, president, the school administration board, wished happy Independence Day and administered an oath saying, "Today is a silver moment because all students from first standard to 10 standard are participating. Everyone should follow the duty along with the rights given by the Constitution. Today we all used the national flag. We should keep it respectfully. We should know the importance of tricolour and should know how to respect the national flag. He said that the values of the freedom fighters should be followed."
Tara Prakashchandra Shetty, member of the school management board, Nagesh Naik, president, parents teachers association, Prashant Naik, GM counselor, GM and Global School's teaching staffs, students and all the staff members were present in the programme.
