Mangaluru, Aug 17: The SCS Group of Institutions observed India's 76th Independence Day with great fervour. It was heartening to see representation across age groups starting from SCS preschools all the way to the nursing college and Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College.
Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav commemorating 75 years of India's Independence was celebrated at SCS Preschools. The school was decked up with saffron, white and green and indeed resonated a festive mood.
The tiny tots were engaged in various activities for a week. The activities culminated with the fancy dress competition themed 'Indian National Symbols'.
Competitions like patriotic singing, drawing , Ms and Mr SCS were among the others conducted at the Nursing College as well as the Ayurveda Medical College. Students took part in the competitions with great enthusiasm.
The festivities culminated with the flag hoisting ceremony conducted at the premises of KECT Towers.
Venkataramana Kedilaya, Retd Jr warrant officer, IAF was the chief guest. Dr Amarnath Sorake, the founder president of SCS group of Institutions, was the guest of honour.
Welcome address was given by Dr Ravi Rao S, principal KAMC, presidential address by U K Khalid, administrative officer, vote of thanks by prof Anil Kumar, vice principal SCSCON.
Prof Lolita SM D'Souza, principal, SCS college of nursing, Vinaya D'Souza, principal. SCS preschools, Saju M V, assistant administrative officer, Dr Uday D K, medical superintendent, KAMCH among others were present.
Master of ceremony was done by Dr Ajith Kamath M, medical director, KAMCH. Basha Irfan, the student representative escorted the dignitaries on to the dias.
