New Delhi, April 7 (IANS) The sports ministry Thursday formed a committee under justice (retd) Mukul Mudgal to examine the comments and suggestions received from various quarters and make appropriate recommendations to fine-tune the draft National Sports Development Bill.
The other members of the committee are eminent athletes Prakash Padukone and Ashwini Nachappa, Jhanja Tripathi (secretary and executive director, Railways Sports Promotion Board), a representative of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and joint secretary (sports) of sports ministry.
The committee has been asked to give its report and recommendations in two weeks. The committee will examine the comments and suggestions received from the sports governance and legal angles and make specific recommendations on sports administration, sports development and welfare of sportspersons, an official said.
The will also be specific recommendations on delineation between the government, the IOA, the National Sports Federations, the Sports Authority of India and others.
The ministry Feb 22 published on its website a 'preliminary exposure' draft on the proposed National Sports Development Bill and invited all stakeholders, including sports bodies, sportspersons and the general public to submit their comments and suggestions within 30 days.
