New Delhi May 1: In a packed two-day schedule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra today, followed by visits to Kerala and Andhra Pradesh on Friday, May 2, to launch major national initiatives in the media, infrastructure, and maritime sectors.
As per official sources, PM Modi will arrive in Mumbai this morning to inaugurate the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 at the Jio World Centre. The four-day international event—touted as India's first of its kind—aims to project India as a global media, entertainment, and digital powerhouse.

WAVES 2025, with the tagline "Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries", will bring together stakeholders from across 90 countries, including over 10,000 delegates, 1,000 creators, and more than 300 companies and 350 startups. The summit features 42 plenary sessions, 39 breakout sessions, and 32 masterclasses covering everything from AI, gaming, AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality), OTT platforms, to broadcasting.
At the summit, India will also host its first-ever Global Media Dialogue, with ministerial participation from 25 countries. A highlight of the event is the WAVES Bazaar, a massive digital marketplace featuring 6,100 buyers and 5,200 sellers across 2,100 media projects.
PM Modi is also scheduled to interact with winners from the Create in India Challenge and tour the Creatosphere and Bharat Pavilion, showcasing India’s growing creative economy.
On Friday, May 2, the Prime Minister will be in Kerala where he will dedicate the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport to the nation. Located near Thiruvananthapuram, the Rs 8,900 crore port is India's first container transshipment hub and holds strategic importance due to its proximity to international shipping lanes. The port, with a natural depth of 20 metres, is expected to drastically reduce India’s reliance on foreign ports and enhance the country’s maritime capabilities.
Later in the day, Modi will head to Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, where he will unveil and lay foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 58,000 crore. These include:
• Seven National Highway projects aimed at enhancing access to heritage and pilgrimage sites such as Tirupati, Srikalahasti, and Udayagiri Fort.
• Major rail infrastructure upgrades, including a third line between Vijayawada and New West Block Hut Cabin and a Rail Over Rail corridor to decongest junctions.
• Urban transformation for Amaravati, featuring a Rs 17,400 crore initiative to build a 320-km urban transit network, flood management, and underground utility systems.
• Housing projects for over 5,200 families and foundation laying of the new Legislative Assembly, High Court, and key administrative buildings in Andhra Pradesh's capital region.
As part of his Andhra visit, the Prime Minister is also expected to participate in a public event and a roadshow in Amaravati.
PM Modi's cross-state visit underscores the Centre’s focus on bolstering the creative economy, enhancing national infrastructure, and pushing forward the Viksit Bharat vision for inclusive development and global integration.
