Udupi, Apr 6: Dr (Col) R R Pulgaonkar has been appointed as the new medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Manipal. He also has been appointed as the chief operating officer of the hospital, and cluster head of Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr T M A Pai Hospital Udupi, and Dr T M A Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala.

Dr Pulgaonkar took over charge from Dr T S Raghuraman on April 1.

A release from Kasturba Hospital said that Dr Pulgaonkar will also be responsible for the entire administration including administrative, performance-linked, and profitability criteria.

Dr Pugaonkar, after completing his MBBS and MD in general medicine at Nagpur, earned his MBA degree in health care administration from Delhi University. He worked for 33 years as specialised medical officer in army, besides shouldering administrative responsibilities. Before joining Manipal University, he had been serving as the medical director for army enrolment in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh states.
