Karkala: Couple fall into well, firefighters rescue them in swift operation

Karkala, Jan 5: Firefighters in Karkala successfully carried out a rescue operation on Sunday, Januray 5 morning to save a couple who had fallen into a well.

Anitha Mallya (57) and her husband Annappa Mallya (59), residents of Kallotte Pervaje Road, survived the ordeal by a narrow margin.

The incident occurred when Anitha accidentally fell into a well approximately 60 feet deep with 20 feet of water. In an attempt to save her, Annappa climbed down into the well.

The Karkala fire station team acted promptly, rescuing the woman and her husband, who were holding on to a pump pipe in the water.

The rescue team included officer Albert Monis, assistant fire officer Chandra Shekhar, and personnel Hariprasad Shettigar, Sanjay, Hasan Multani, and Ravichandra Korawar, all of whom played a vital role in saving the couple’s lives.
