Sullia: Engineering Student Drowns in River

Sullia, Apr 4: A student of the local engineering college drowned in River Payasvini on Sunday April 3. Harish Babu, a fourth semester student of M Tech (electronics), had visited the river to swim around.

Harish Babu, son of Basavaraj from Kunigal in Tumkur district, was a brilliant student. He used to pass all the examinations as a topper, averaging 80 percent marks. Two days back, he had been awarded medal for standing first in his class.

The tragedy occurred when he had ventured into River Payasvini along with a few of his friends, at Bhasmadka near here.

    Very sad to hear such incidents happening again and again. I am the spectator of such incidents way back from 1995 where I lost 2 of my friends. Please authorities look into the safety measures along such tragic locations
