Udupi, Apr 3: Returning Officer of the Youth Congress Election Commission for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency Y. Ravindraswamynath said on Saturday that the Youth Congress elections in the Udupi-Chikmagalur would be held in June.
Mr. Ravindraswamynath told presspersons here that the membership drive for Youth Congress which was going on at present, would be completed by April 25. It was for the first time that internal party elections were held in the Indian Youth Congress. Elections would be held for the Youth Congress leadership in all booths. This was the first attempt of the party to build the Youth Congress organisation at the grassroots level in every corner of the State.
To ensure fairness, the Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections (FAME) would independently audit the membership and election process. FAME was a non-governmental organisation founded by the former Chief Election Commissioner J.M. Lyngdoh. The youth aged between 18 and 35 were eligible to be members of the Youth Congress, Mr. Ravindraswamynath said.
