Mangalore, March 27 (NMNS): Achal Industries, a renowned cashew processing unit has opened a new state-of-the-art showroom ‘Phalguni Urwa Specialty” at ‘Aura – The Place’ in Chilimbi on Friday.

The showroom, which is a branch, was inaugurated by K.S. Balachandra Rao, the General Manager - Canara Bank, by cutting the ribbon. Later, the proprietor’s mother, Rohini Sadananda Prabhu, lit the lamp traditionally providing impetus to the programme. The proprietor, G. Giridhar Prabhu, his wife Archana Prabhu, children Achala, Amitha and Anuja were present on the occasion. M.N. Pai, the General Manager of the unit was also present.

The occasion was graced by the presence of dignitaries from various walks of life, notable among them being the Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak who paid a visit to the showroom. She expressed her delight on seeing such a technically organized showroom in Mangalore, and gave her regards to the proprietor.
Addressing the media, Prabhu said “This is the largest cashew showroom, not just in Karnataka, but probably also in India. We have plans to increase the inventory in the showroom to include chilled beverages, select range of fresh vegetables etc. Currently the showroom offers cashews, dry fruits, spices, sweets, savories and frozen desserts. The prime concern of Phalguni has always been of quality, at affordable rates. Hence we have plans to source items directly from the producers, thereby ensuring fair price to both the consumers and the producers.”

The showroom is fully air-conditioned, encompasses an area of about 1000 Sq. Ft., and has separate display counters for items on offer. It has two modern digital billing counters, and well trained personnel. The store is open to the public from 9am to 8.30pm on weekdays and upto 2pm on Sundays.
