V S Acharya opens air-conditioned bus stand in Udupi


Udupi, March 27, DHNS : Bus commuters in Udupi can heave a sigh of relief from the scorching heat as the Udupi service bus stand have been provided with AC. The AC bus stand was inaugurated by the District-in-Charge Minister Dr V S Acharya. 

Speaking on the occasion, he said for the first time in the history of 44 CMCs, an AC bus stand is being built in the State. The service bus stand wherein Express buses to Mangalore leave have been built on BOT (Build Operate and Transfer) basis.

Stating that Udupi is fast growing, he said the Udupi CMC has completed 75 years. It has won first place in cleanliness in the State. The government has already released Rs 25 crore on account of diamond jubilee celebration of the CMC. The work on Gundibailu-Kalsanka road will be widened at the earliest, he added. CMC President Kiran Kumar said the AC bus stand was built with the help of Bharadwaj Enterprises of Manipal.

The CMC has not spent any amount for the same. The right for advertising space is solely assigned to the party that has been involved. The party can look after the maintenance task by collecting the advertisement revenue. “We have sign the BOT based contract for 15 years and the bus stand will be handed over to the CMC once the time bound is met,” he said. MLA Raghupathy Bhat also spoke.

    Acharyajis another gift to udupi. More & more load shedding in coming days??????? Now more and more people will take shelter inside this stand at night. This is called JANSEVA.

    This AC busstand need to pay user charge there is only few seat inside sitting in the AC room then travel by normal will be health problem in this summer heat

    Joke of the century, Yes It is a total waste, the communters will never get to use it, either it will be filled with beggars, cows, stray dogs, etc, and will there be power supply, No complaints with the CMC, it is one the finest, very efficient and helpful, congrats on its diamond jubliee

    Absolute waste !!!!please ensure that ac's are put in hospitals which will atleast give relief to lot of patients !!!just watch the ac's will cease to work when required !!!!
