Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 15: Some parts of Dakshina Kannada received high intensity rain, while parts of Udupi witnessed sporadic showers. Yellow alert is sounded in coastal districts till July 18.
Beltangady taluk received copious amounts of rain. Landslied occurred near Charmady Ghat. Main road of Ujire is inundated. A tree fell on electrical transformer near Laila due to which seven electricity poles got damaged. A road side drain collapsed near Kashibettu. More than eight houses were damaged at various parts in the taluk. Kumaradhara bathing ghat at Subramanya is on the verge of getting submerged.
In Mangaluru city rains were intermittent and the weather was alternating between cloud and sunshine. Six cars got damaged near Ganesh Mahal on K S Rao Road as a tin sheet fell on them. Three houses at Ullal got damaged due to rain. Sea erosion continued at Battappady and Ullal Sea Ground.
Uppinangady and surrounding areas received heavy rains on Thursday. Roof of many building flew off at Uppinangady town area. A tree fell at Perne and damaged electricity poles due to which electricity supply got interrupted.
North mud wall of ancient Sri Veerabhadra temple at Moodbidri collapsed due to rain and high velocity winds.
In the district of Udupi, Karkala, Udupi and Kundapur received good rains. Trees fell on few houses damaging the roof. Roof of Mahalingeshwara temple at Belman got blown due to heavy winds.
