Mumbai metro construction mishap: 20-foot structure collapses in Chembur

Mumbai, Jan 31: Panic gripped the residents of Suman Nagar Society, Chembur, after a 20-foot concrete structure from the ongoing Mumbai Metro construction collapsed into the residential premises. The incident occurred on the road leading to Sion-Trombay Road on Thursday night.

According to reports, the fallen structure landed on a security guard’s cabin. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. The mishap took place at around 9:30 pm, while construction work was underway for Metro Line 4 (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Kasavadavali).

As per a Times Now report, the collapsed structure was identified as a reinforcement cage, a steel framework designed to provide structural strength to concrete. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, with a report expected within two days.
