Mangaluru, Jul 14: The Career Guidance Cell at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organised a session on ‘Steer Your Career in the Right Direction’ for all the final year students on July 13.
The resource person for the day was Albert W, D’Souza, chairman of St John Group of Institutions, Maharashtra. He is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and a sought after guide and adviser. He is the recipient of several accolades.
Coming from humble beginnings, Albert is the proprietor of Printania Printing Press, a much sought after name by both national and international companies. He is the chairman of Model Co-operative Bank and Managing Director of Brisk Instrumentations Company. He founded the ALDEL Education Trust which runs four professional colleges. He is an active governing body member at St Agnes College (Autonomous).
The session commenced with a prayer song by Ashel D’Souza and group. Sr Dr M Venissa A C, the principal, introduced the keynote speaker and welcomed the gathering.
Albert D’Souza began the session by showing the audience motivational videos from the movie Lakshaya with the aim to highlight the need to change one’s attitude to achieve success. Proceeding further, he spoke on the lives of four imminent Indian personalities that he had the privilege of meeting, who worked hard, worked with a positive attitude and strived towards success at different stages of their lives and motivated the students to become heroes from zeroes.
While addressing the main topic, Albert spoke about how to be corporate ready. He stressed on the need for students to have a post graduate degree to be placed in their dream jobs. The need to be satisfied with where we are in life is a must. As such, he emphasized that an MBA is the most sought after post graduate course as it welcomes aspirants from any stream. Albert D’Souza concluded his address with a question and answer session.
Lawren Maria Castelino, the placement officer, was the coordinator of the programme. Anusha Zita D’Cunha compered the session.
The session concluded with the college anthem.
