Mangaluru, Jul 5: Shree Devi Institute of Technology, a unit of Shree Devi Education Trust, Mangaluru, has inaugurated 'Surabhi’, an intra college cultural fest for the undergraduate and postgraduate students on June 25 in the college auditorium. Walter Nandalike, managing director of Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru was the chief guest and Maina Shetty, secretary of the Shree Devi Education Trust, presided the inaugural programme. Dr K E Prakash, principal and director of Shree Devi Institute of Technology and the convenor, Savitha J, assistant professor department of Electronics and Communication were present.
Walter was very much appreciative and had kind word of commendation towards the college campus for its state-of-the-art, infrastructure and green campus environment. He then motivated students with his dynamic words to actively take part in all the events. Walter shared with us his private thoughts on the nation, and his aspirations and wishes towards the future representatives of the nation. With great leaders to helm the colossus of ship, that is our nation, he hopes the ship leads us all to better lands. He had words of motivation and encouragement for students to place special import on the competitive exams like UPSC and KPSC so that the students could place themselves on the pedestal and take up opportunities of leadership and direction. His reminder was specific to the students of Mangalore whom, by statistics, have been few in number to crack these competitive exams. He addressed the need for change in this aspect as well. Lastly, he wished good luck to all the participants, and asked them to partake in the celebration with zeal and enthusiasm.
Dr K E Prakash, director and principal, expressed his admiration for Walter’s work in the media and his ideals towards social causes. He also thanked the student community and faculty for their contribution in making this event a success.
The masters of the ceremony, Amritha and Dhanushree, carried the event and introduced the various invited dignitaries. Bhumika, final year, aeronautical engineering welcomed the chief guest, Walter Nandalike. Praveen Tauro, marketing manager, Daijiworld and Daya Kukkajan graced the inaugural programme. Samjna, final year, from civil engineering proposed the vote of thanks.
Various cultural events took place after the inaugural ceremony. Programmes like debate, creative writing, photography, solo singing, group dance, BGMI, reel it, pick and act, quiz, stress interview, face painting, pencil sketching, mehendi, treasure hunt, best dressed.
Poorvi, final year, from aeronautical engineering commenced the validatory ceremony by introducing the chief guests of the evening: Arjun Kapikad, Gaana Bhat, 'Abatara' team, and Anoop Sagar, a popular and versatile actor Arjun Kapikad then had an interactive session with the audience on his upcoming movie and introduced the students to the world of Coastalwood. The winners of various events were awarded in the validatory ceremony by the celebrity chief guest. Kavanashree, final year, from aeronautical engineering proposed the vote of thanks.
