Mangaluru: Shree Devi Institute of Technology holds annual day celebration

Mangaluru, Jul 5: Shree Devi Institute of Technology, a unit of Shree Devi Education Trust, Mangaluru, has inaugurated its 'Annual Day Celebration', on June 29 in the college auditorium. Dr Peter Fernandes, principal of Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Moodabidri, was the honored chief guest. Maina S Shetty, secretary, Shree Devi Education Trust; Dr K E Prakash, principal and director of Shree Devi Institute of Technology, and the convenor, professor Shwetha Shetty, assistant professor department of Business and Administration were present to preside the occasion.

Dr Peter Fernandes was very much appreciative and had kind words of commendation towards the college’s achievements in the academic and social disciplines. He then motivated students with his dynamic words starting with a quote 'Students life is a golden life' and then insisted students to 'believe in themselves'. To quote Ratan Tata, he also said, 'All of us do not have equal talent. Yet all of us have an equal opportunity to develop our talents.'

Dr K E Prakash then expressed his admiration for Dr Peter Fernandes’ contribution in the academic field. He then highlighted the students’ and the faculty’s achievements in the annual report for the academic year.

The academic toppers and the best outgoing students of every department were felicitated. Akshant, department of Mechanical Engineering, was conferred with 'Dr B R Samaga Gold Medal Award' for the academic year.

Masters of ceremony for the function were Bhumika A R and K R Arjun Nambiar. Vote of thanks was proposed by professor Shwetha Shetty, department of Business and Administration, who also doubled as the convenor for the event.
