Mangaluru, Jun 27: “Self discipline is an invaluable skill to learn and develop over the course of your life and will help you tremendously throughout your academic career. Inevitably, as a student, there will always be subjects you don’t love and periods of distractions in your life, which is why it is so important to develop self discipline in order to succeed through those times of less motivation. Even if it doesn’t come naturally to you, there are ways to find and cultivate strategies. The possession of self discipline enables you to choose, and then persevere with actions, thoughts and behavior, which leads to improvement and success. It also gives you the power and inner strength to overcome addictions and laziness and to follow through whatever you do”, said professor Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Expert Group of Institutions, presiding over the orientation programme held for the first PU students and parents of Expert PU College, Kodialbail, at SDM Law College, Mangaluru on Sunday, June 26. The session was initiated with the recital of college anthem and then was symbolically inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp.
Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice-chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions, administered the oath to the students and delivered the inaugural address. She advised the students to aim for academic excellence by having a clear objective in mind and achieve it without undergoing the any influence of external distractions. She also felt that one needs to dream from their heart and not just feel it in their mind, so that every heartbeat would remind them of their dream and inspire to make it a reality.
Ankush N Nayak, director of Information Technology, Expert Group of Institutions, briefed the students of various aspects of technology that have been incorporated in the institution to run the system smoothly. He felt that technology is a dual edged sword and students have to master the technology by grasping only the good aspects and not be its servant.
Siya Dayanand Chowta and her parents were felicitated on this occassion, for securing a score of 595 out of 600 in the Karnataka State PU Board Exam and emerging as the college topper. Professor Ramachandra Bhat, principal, Expert PU College, Kodialbail, familiarised the students and parents of the study and work culture of the institution and notified them of the decorum that needs to be followed and maintained at Expert.
Shyam Prasad S, AICE coordinator gave an idea of the various competitive exams that students can attempt and the prestigious institutions that they can aim for, to fulfil their dreams. Vice principal of Academics, Expert PU College, Valachil, SubrahmanyaUdupa, briefed the students of the academic plans. Ashwini Pai, lecturer in Hindi, compered the programme. The programme co-ordinator, Radhika Bhat, lecturer in Physics and other faculty members were present.
